Sachin & Babi is New York City based fashion house founded by two Indian fashion designers Sachin Ahluwalia & Babi Ahluwalia. The designers are known for their Mughal embroideries and sophisticated ready to wear dresses collections.
The couple met at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology while studying and where Sachin studied fashion designing while Babi studied textiles. They fell in love and got engaged after completing their graduation and then they started the business together.
These Indian fashion designers were known for their unique embroideries and they were prior to establish a ready to wear brand for ladies.
They were working as embroidery craftsmen creating authentic Indian threadwork and this contemporary fashion house specialized in women’s ready to wear refined evening gowns and separates.
In 1997 they got a chance to showcase their embroidery work at Oscar De Renta and after seeing their work Oscar decided to put it on hiss evening gowns.
That was the beginning of their own business and after a few years they launched a luxury home brand Ankasa with a line of embroidered pillows and other accessories.
Sachin & Babi designed their first bridal wear collection with their eponymous label in Bridal Fashion Week 2016 and then they launched their wedding dresses collection that was comprised just twelve pieces.
